Theme

The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in significant human, economic and social losses worldwide. In the case of Small Island States, post-pandemic recovery and progress towards the goals of the 2030 Agenda implies greater efforts, due to the levels of threat from the effects of climate change and a context of social and economic gaps, as in the case of the Dominican Republic.

This calls for greater investment from the countries of the region to promote policies that will make it possible to return to pre-pandemic levels and accelerate the achievement of the 2030 Agenda. This exceptional moment highlights the importance of enhancing co-operation among countries through a strengthened and robust International Co-operation System.

Consequently, it reaffirms the need to continue working on the construction of an agenda that enhances the effectiveness of international co-operation to achieve economic, social and environmental recovery with an inclusive and resilient approach.

Objectives

The objective of the Action Dialogue is to reflect on the challenges, measures and actions that should be promoted to enhance the effectiveness of co-operation based on the results of the Second and Third Monitoring Rounds of the Global Partnership for Effective Development Co-operation and the post-pandemic situation.

The purpose of this dialogue is, on the one hand, to reach agreements within the framework of the national agenda on effective co-operation and partnerships that will serve as a basis for mutual learning at all levels. On the other hand, it is expected to draft a document with the conclusions of the dialogue and strategic lines of work in order to increase the commitment and strengthen the efforts of co-operation actors with the principles of effective co-operation for development.
