Trade unions play an important oversight and advocacy role in the relationship between workers, employers and governments, and, as such, in the elaboration of policies and implementation of partnerships with the private sector in development co-operation. They are advocates for decent work, accountability, social dialogue and justice, and impact, especially for the most vulnerable. In some instances, trade unions can be directly involved with the private sector as co-implementers of development co-operation projects.
